Exploring this year’s earnings figures

Today the ONS has published its latest annual estimates of employee earnings in the UK. Recognising recent challenges with the data, we have introduced new methods and processing improvements this year, which have resulted in some bigger revisions than usual. Liz McKeown explains the impact of the changes and looks ahead to further improvements in the quality of the data.

ONS Local is a service from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) that offers tailored data and insights to local authorities and communities. Emma Hickman writes about a recent ‘datathon’ where the script was flipped. Teams of local leaders delved directly into the data themselves to investigate a problem their area was facing.

Bringing Data to Life: The value of environmental statistics

How does the data we collect help us to measure climate change? What is the ‘green economy’? And how do our Natural Capital Accounts help us to better understand the economic and social value of the UK’s natural resources?
